TRT Health Check Advanced

Price range: £199.00 through £224.00

Looking beyond hormones in TRT monitoring

Our most complete TRT profile combines hormone markers with blood health, liver function, kidney function, cholesterol, thyroid function, ferritin, blood sugar, protein, and prostate markers that are commonly monitored during testosterone replacement therapy.

By bringing these markers together into a single profile, it provides the widest overview in our TRT range and can be used as a baseline before treatment or to monitor changes over time.

You might consider this test if you’re preparing to start testosterone replacement therapy, are receiving ongoing TRT, have been advised to monitor a wider range of health markers, or would like our most complete TRT assessment.

Before your test
  • Prepare for your test by following these instructions.
  • Take your sample between 6am and 10am.
  • Avoid vigorous exercise, ejaculation, or direct prostate stimulation (e.g. a rectal examination or receptive anal sex) for 48 hours beforehand – all of these can raise your PSA level.
  • Wait at least six weeks before taking this test if you\’ve had a urine infection, prostatitis (prostate infection), or urological intervention (e.g. prostate biopsy or cystoscopy).
  • Please let us know in the supporting information if you take testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), finasteride, dutasteride, or saw palmetto, as these can also affect your results.
  • Avoid nipple stimulation, as this can increase prolactin levels.
  • Taking this test fasted is preferable but not compulsory as eating can impact prolactin levels.
  • Take this test when any symptoms of short-term illness have settled.
  • Stay well hydrated before your test.
  • Take your sample at least 24 hours after any vitamin or mineral supplements.
  • Do not take biotin supplements for two days before this test, discuss this with your doctor if it is prescribed.
  • If you take levothyroxine or desiccated thyroid extract (DTE), take your blood test before your dose for the most accurate thyroid function results.
  • If you have to take your blood test later in the day, aim to leave at least six hours between taking levothyroxine medication and your blood draw (or 12 hours after DTE/T3 medication).
  • Please also let us know in the supporting information if you take amiodarone or lithium, as these can also affect your results.

What to expect from your blood test

Your phlebotomist will make sure you are comfortable before starting and explain what will happen.

The blood draw itself usually takes only a few minutes. Most people describe the feeling as a small scratch or pinch.

We will check that you feel well before you leave. If you are nervous about blood tests, have difficult veins or have fainted before, please tell us so we can support you during your appointment.

Is the blood draw safe?
Blood collection is a routine clinical procedure. Your appointment is carried out by a clinically trained phlebotomist using single-use needles and appropriate infection control measures. We follow clear hygiene and safety procedures for every blood draw, whether you visit our clinic or book a mobile appointment.
Can I choose a clinic or mobile appointment?

You can book an appointment at our Swindon clinic or choose a mobile visit at your home or workplace.

Mobile appointments are available across Swindon and surrounding areas. Travel fees may apply outside Swindon.

How should I prepare for my blood test?

Preparation depends on the test you have chosen.

Some tests need no special preparation. Others may need fasting, a certain time of day, or changes to supplements before your appointment.

Any specific instructions will be shown with your test and sent to you when you book.

It can also help to stay well hydrated before your blood draw unless your test instructions tell you otherwise.

What aftercare should I follow?

After your blood draw, keep the plaster or dressing in place for around 30–60 minutes.

A small amount of tenderness or bruising can sometimes happen afterwards and usually settles within a few days.

Try to avoid heavy lifting with that arm for at least a few hours after your blood draw. If you notice a small bruise, a cold compress may help.

If you feel unwell or have concerns after your appointment, please contact us.

Can I book this appointment if I already have a blood test kit?

Yes. This appointment is suitable if you already have a blood test kit or blood request form and simply need a qualified phlebotomist to collect your blood sample.

Do I need to send my blood form or test kit instructions before my appointment?

Yes, please send us a screenshot of your blood form or the instructions included with your test kit before your appointment. This allows us to check the samples, tubes and any additional requirements in advance.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring your blood request form or complete blood test kit with you. If you have already sent us the information beforehand, bringing the original documents or kit instructions is still recommended.

Can you collect blood for tests that require centrifuging?

Yes, we can provide centrifuging for suitable tests, but this is an additional service and must be booked where required. Please send us your blood form or test kit instructions in advance so we can confirm exactly what your test requires.

Can I have any blood test taken at the weekend?
Not always. If your sample needs to be returned to a laboratory, please check that the laboratory is open and able to receive your sample following a weekend appointment.
Some samples have specific requirements around storage, transport or the time between collection and laboratory processing. If the laboratory is closed, please contact them before booking to confirm whether the sample can be safely stored or returned later and whether there are any special instructions you need to follow.
We can collect and prepare your sample according to the instructions provided, but it is your responsibility to ensure that the timing of your weekend appointment is suitable for your chosen laboratory.
